Risk management is more important than ever for today’s financial leaders, as CFOs —  the stewards of capital for their organizations — juggle ongoing economic uncertainty and look to shield their companies from business interruptions. At the same time, business leaders must comply with a growing set of new and diverse regulations and shifts in federal policy, from ESG and cybersecurity reporting requirements to fast-changing global tax and tariff laws.

In this virtual event, the CFO Dive and ESG Dive editorial teams will connect with leading industry experts and executives who will address how CFOs can best manage risk. Over the course of three panels, the event will seek to uncover the best balance between CFOs, Chief Risk Officers, Chief Sustainability Officers and other key C-suite leaders when it comes to creating a top-line risk management strategy, as well as how business leaders can nimbly adjust to an ever-changing set of complex regulations and geopolitical shifts.

Who Should Attend?

  • CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, controllers, and top financial executives
  • Chief Sustainability Officers and Chief Risk Officers
  • Executives focused on ESG, sustainability, and risk management

CFO Dive and ESG Dive’s Risky Business event will aim to answer critical questions around how the C-suite can create a risk management strategy that both meets key compliance requirements and adapts quickly to shifts in regulatory policies. The event will take a detailed look at risks that are top of mind for CFOs, CROs and CSOs, including ESG, supply chain, and cybersecurity concerns.

Session 1 Surviving and thriving amid policy turbulence This session will explore how CFOs can upgrade scenario planning and risk management to adjust to the greater range and severity of risks as the Trump administration radically revises U.S. economic policy. CFOs and their C-suite colleagues must adapt as the Trump administration overturns longstanding U.S. approaches to trade, immigration, regulation, taxation and foreign affairs. CFOs who wait to gain greater clarity on the risk landscape may fall behind bolder, more nimble competitors. We will discuss the new ways that CFOs should approach scenario planning, including through the use of real-time data, and how they may improve risk management. Session 2 Fireside chat with a CSO This session will examine the evolving role of Chief Sustainability Officers and how they collaborate with other C-suite members such as Chief Financial Officers, Chief Risk Officers and General Counsel to manage sustainability risks. ESG Dive’s Zoya Mirza will speak with a CSO about fulfilling sustainability goals, responsibility allocation, strategic planning and how these C-suite relationships impact compliance strategy and company structure. Session 3 Just-in-time: Mitigating supply chain risk This panel will explore how finance chiefs can work with their supply chain managers and chief risk officers to sharpen their enterprise risk management systems, analyze nearshoring and offshoring’s costs and opportunities, and review and refine inventory strategies to adjust to the changing marketplace. CFO Dive will speak with experts on both the financial and risk side of the business surrounding how they are creating strategies to both respond to tariffs, and how they are executing those new policies.
